She cradles a steaming cup, the vapor curling upward and participating in the same painterly ecstasy of the bouquet of white flowers just beside her. On her knee is perched a little bird—no, that’s an owl—no, that’s a cat/owl? The palette is ecstatic: inspired by the artist’s affection for Cézanne and Modigliani. The little cat/owl presents his companion with a potion of spices, salts, or magic essences.
