This realist brush painting was created by Iris during a private lesson with master painter Daniel Gerhartz in his Wisconsin studio in 2018. Drawn to his Sargent-like approach and dedication to painting from live models, Iris focused on mastering luminous backlit setups that evoke candlelight or sunset. Instruction emphasized the balance of warm and cool tones to achieve natural, living skin color. The portrait depicts a young woman in quiet contemplation, her head inclined downward as warm light wraps her face and softly frames her updo.
