Goddess of Justice
Goddess of Justice
The hair, tasseled and wild, weaves like living flame into a radiant golden headdress. In one hand, she raises a tall staff—her weapon of knowledge—balancing from its branch a small scale of justice that rocks gently, as if in breath. The Goddess of Law protects dozens of children below her, embodying both justice and guardianship, both thunder and embrace. The goddess’s likeness is drawn from the real-life achievements of Rebecca Bell Graeber, co-founder of the L. David Shear Children’s Law Center during her tenure at Bay Area Legal Services. Rebecca will be remembered for her dedication to representing children and changing their lives for the better.
