Scott grew up on the moss-covered rural outskirts of Seattle, surrounded by old-growth forest, in a childhood before the internet and cable, when an antenna pulled three reliable channels into the house. Outside offered infinitely better programming. She spent hours simply sitting and staring, absorbed by a forest so visually dense that boredom rarely had a chance to arrive.
Channeled returns to that vanished kind of attention. Three painted panels echo those three television channels, opening instead onto an inexhaustible world. Strange little apparitions drift through the scene—part pollen, spore, spider silk, fairy, jellyfish, thought—occupying the border between things seen and things imagined. When rare sunlight pierced the Pacific Northwest clouds, the old forest seemed to cross that border too, briefly illuminating another frequency.
